Laurie Rains

Laurie Rains is Group Vice President in Nielsen’s Retail Consumer and Shopper Analytics’ Practice area.  In this role, she oversees a team of consumer experts who support our retailer partners with deep insights about their shoppers and their competitive environment.  Prior to this role, Laurie was a member of Nielsen’s Retail Consulting and Analytics group where she provided retailers with data-driven insights and consultative services to solve a variety of business issues.  Laurie also spent 15 years servicing East Coast retailers across all channels of trade.  As a leader of 20+ Retail Services individuals, she developed and implemented plans to secure cooperation with retailers and established Nielsen data, products and services as the preferred source of business insights. 

Laurie is a frequent industry speaker, including NACS, NACDS, NGA, FMI and PLMA conferences and retail and manufacturer clients covering topics such as Digitally Engaged Shoppers, Leveraging Data to Understand your Shoppers, Retail Channel Trends and Driving Growth in a Slow Growth Market.

Laurie earned a BA in Economics from Tulane University and an MBA in Finance from the Leonard Stern School of Business at New York University.
